Jaideep Patel was Gujarat general secretary of the VHP at the time of the Gujarat pogroms of 2002. He was heavily involved in the violence and is accused in the Naroda Gam massacre. Convicted killer Babu Bajrangi has said that he kept in touch with Jaideep Patel throughout the violence, frequently updating him on its progress.
