Pravin Togadia is former president of the VHP, known for his hate speech and communal speech. He has said, for example, "All Hindutva opponents will get the death sentence and we will leave it to the people to carry this out". He has claimed that Gujarat will be declared a Hindu state by 2015, declared Asaram Bapu a saint and called for the beheading of anyone who converts Hindus.
Despite apparent differences of emphasis, Togadia was a supporter of Narendra Modi for prime minister, writing to a critic of Modi on Twitter: "We are ONE & the same. Nation needs him."
