Naba Kumar Sarkar, alias Swami Aseemanand, is an RSS worker, who confessed, in 2010, to involvement in a number of acts of saffron terror, including attacks at Ajmer Sharif, Mecca Masjid, the 2006 Malegaon blasts and the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings. In 2014, in a series of interviews with Caravan magazine he stated that the terror attacks were approved by RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat. Aseemanand is also associated with the radical Hindutva splinter group Abhinav Bharat.
Despite the confessions, Aseemanand was acquitted of his involvement in the various acts of Saffron Terror in 2017-2019.
